Something Different

25th March 2020 in Article, Musical Musings, Personal, Technics Instruments

This is a first for me. Have been playing around with Midi for years since it cam out.  I now think I have found real way to use it for me.  Using my Technics KN7000 as the base keyboard.   I went Midi Out to Yamaha PSR S770 Midi In.  Split both keyboards to the same “F# 2” key.  Using Fingered Chords for both and compatible rhythm patterns I tried ‘playing a song.  The song is “Satin Doll” by Duke Ellington.  Using both backgrounds together with fills and pattern changes I was amazed of how the blended to together so well.  Taking a listen and judge for yourself?  Hope you enjoy!

Technic’s Tips 2

23rd March 2020 in Article, Musical Musings, Personal, Technics Instruments, Tips & Hints

RHYTHM
After doing (Right 1), (Right 2), and (Left) into (Panel Memory 1), try doing the same thing for each (Rhythm Group).  That’s right there are 15 (Rhythm Groups), excluding (Rhythm Group) (Memory).
 1.  Pick a rhythm in each (Rhythm Group).
  2.  Exclude (Rhythm Group) (Memory).
  3.  Save to (Panel Memory 1) (Expand).
Now when you recall (Panel Memory 1) for a song you have 17 (Right 1) registrations. 17 (Right 2) registrations, 17 (Left) registrations, and 15 (Ryhthms) at your disposal at any time during your playing.  This is impressive to be able 51 registrations and 15 rhythms on (Panel Memory 1).  Once I have (Panel Memory 1) finished, I just save the same thing to all the (Panel Memory 2-8) (Expand).
I then have the exact same voices and rhythms in all (Panel Memories 1-8).
  1.  Pick one of my rhythms and set (Tempo) for (Panel Memory 1)  (Expand).
  2.  Pick one of my rhythms and set (Tempo) for (Panel Memory 2-8)  (Expand).
Now I have 8 (Panel Memory) (Rhythm Groups) ready to use to play for a song!
There are only 3 types of songs.  Fast, slow, and half fast!

Alone Again!

3rd March 2020 in Audio & Video, Musical Musings, Personal, Technics Instruments

Valentines is here and gone.  Now it is back to the grind of the new year.  It is a great time to play the KN7000.  What better way then to play “Alone Again (Naturally)”.  Have heard it many times but have been able to relate to it in my later years.  Hope you like it!

A Technic’s Tip

22nd February 2020 in Article, Technics Instruments, Tips & Hints

I am sure that players of keyboards find it tough to get around with the button pushing.  Here is a way to eliminate most of it.  Reqiires work in the beginning but pays off later.  If you already know this please excuse me.
RIGHT 1
 1.  Using the Technics KN7000 push (Right 1) then (Part Select Right 1).
2.  Go to (Sound Group) and select in each group the (Sound) you would like to use.
Even if you do not use the sound, select the one you might use, if you have to.
3.  Next select (Sound Group) then (Sound) of the one you are actually going to use.
4.  Save into (Panel Memory 1) and (Expand).
RIGHT 2
 1.  Using the Technics KN7000 push (Right 2) then (Part Select Right 2).
2.  Go to (Sound Group) and select in each group the (Sound) you would like to use.
Even if you do not use the sound, select the one you lmight use, if you have to.
3.  Next select (Sound Group) then (Sound) of the one you are actually going to use.
4.  Save into (Panel Memory 1) and (Expand).

LEFT

1.  Using the Technics KN7000 push (Left) then (Part Select Left).

Now when you recall (Panel Memory 1) for a song you have 17 (Right 1) registrations. 17 (Right 2), 17 (Left) registrations just by pressing the (Sound Group then (Sound).  Any time during your playing.  This is impressive to be able 51 registrations on (Panel Memory 1).  The possibilities are endless.
I believe this technic can be used on any brand of keyboard that can save registrations.  Names will be different but the buttons do the same things!
Best regards

Love to everyone!

Beautiful song and a great time of the year!  I have enjoyed this song when it came out.  It has become a standard in any ones playbook.  This song lends itself a sustaining left hand and a one note movement.  Enjoy!

New Year Old Song

Enjoy using the stock background’s for real time playing.  Using “Secret Agent” meets “My Bir Mist Du Shein”.  James Bond sounding don’t you think.  Best of luck in the New Year;
