    Hi Gary,

Bear with me while I carry out some maintenance updates, and I’ll respond here when the issue is fixed.

    All Members,

I’m sorry that I’m not in touch often due to the Covid crisis. I have been overwhelmed carrying out a major construction project in my day job so the work on the website has been limited to maintenance only but will resume shortly.

    Thanks again for your patience.

    Best wishes,
    Mike

    Hi Kevin,

Due to a recent WordPress update I have to re-code a section of the site to re-enable this. However, I’m focussed on my university work for a couple of days before I can do that so I’ll email you directly to resolve it.

I’m also manually upgrading new members to the Free Subscription for the same reason so that is sometimes taking a few hours, I’m checking for new signups regularly.

If other members have the same issues please contact me using the “Contact Me” form at the bottom of every page.

    Many thanks
    Mike

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for letting me know I will subscribe you now and sort out the issue as soon as I can. My maintenance is behind because my day job is incredibly busy right now, besides that my boiler has broken down!

    Best wishes,
    Mike

Well, you learn something new every day! I’ve never heard of the PS50 before but I have an AX7 so I can see where the operation is coming from. I’ll discuss with my contacts and endeavour to find a manual for you.

Sorted 🙂 I have verified you now and you’ll be able to access extra downloads on the WSA1 site and legacy members area.

I’ll be back in touch soon. So busy here with the day job and academic studies I’m running ragged 🙂

    Hi silvestrs,

Go to the home page on this site and click on Maintain Legacy connection. You can only see that button when you’re logged in. Follow the instructions there and I will then receive a notification that you’re enrolled on the network. I’ll then verify you on the WSA1 site.

If you have further issues you can contact me directly using the “Contact Me” link at the bottom of every page.

Sorry to be brief here I’ll have a bit more time later.

    Best wishes,
    Mike

    Hi Jeroen,

It’s such a pleasure that you wrote a detailed post because it helps us to understand the issues. I’m going to come back to this post in a few days with more detail because I’m under pressure with academic work at the moment.

With floppy drives the most important part is usually to format the disk on your keyboard not the computer. Sometimes it needs to be formatted a few times on an older keyboard which might have issues with head alignment. Often using a head cleaner on your keyboard’s drive helps a lot. Run the head cleaner 10 times or so.

I also have two KN2000’s and only one of them has a disk drive. I’ll be fitting a USB emulator to it but I’m struggling to find the time.

Error 00 – maybe you are trying to load KN3000 files into KN2000 which won’t work.

I’ll return to this topic soon.

    Hi David,

The issue might be very simple such as one of the small internal fuses being broken. If it’s an old church and suffers from power fluctuations that is a real possibility and it might cost pennies to install a new fuse.

To play back the files you’ll need a KN3000 or newer keyboard. All newer models will load the files but only a KN3000 will play them back exactly (there will be minor differences in playback with later models, nuances).

To get the files onto PC you’ll need software for the USB emulator. The most popular emulators are made by Gotec and you can download the software on their website:

    http://www.gotekemulator.com/

You can then put the files onto floppy disks and load them in another KN3000 or later model.

As the files are particular to Technics keyboards you can only play them back on the keyboards or using specialist software such as EMC Styleworks (which would cost more than buying another KN3000).

I hope that helps, continue the thread if you need more help.

    Best wishes,
    Mike

PS you are a great nephew for showing Bob such kindness in helping him. I’m delighted to tell you that we have members of all ages from young people learning to play up to the oldest I know of who is 106 at present and very active on email, wonderful! It’s a pleasure to help people learn and to re-learn (especially in the forums please, though I do make exceptions and reply to emails if you are over 100 haha).

Usually, I don’t allow phone numbers or emails to be published on the forums. I will leave yours for now but you might receive spam email or phone calls due to this so consider editing your post to remove them if you encounter problems.
